I am a GRYFFINDOR. I'm also a Harry Potter snob; I honestly feel that Sorting yourself is not supposed to be easy, and that the Internet "Sorting Hats" are all crap. Only a lot of introspection will tell you which House you belong in, and for the record, Ravenclaw is not about being smart (it's about loving the use of wit and intellect above all other abilities to solve problems), Hufflepuff is not about being stupid or boring or lame (it's about believing firmly in loyalty and justice and perserverance), Slytherin is not about being mean or evil (it's about using any means to achieve your ends - wanting what you want and going after it), and Gryffindor is NOT the best House. My brother and partner both happen to be in Slytherin - trust me, it's exactly where they both belong - and they are both sweet and wonderful people.
As for myself, I liken myself a lot to Neville Longbottom - I'm a Gryffindor/Hufflepuff toss-up, but I feel that because of the shit I've had to deal with in my life, and the way that I've dealt with and am still dealing with it, I belong in Gryffindor. (My partner, however, insists that I'm a Gryffindor/Ravenclaw toss-up.)
I love to talk about Harry Potter, but if you haven't read the books, don't bother - and I don't care how many times you've seen the films. If you haven't read the books (and really if you haven't read the books several times each), you don't get it and I'm just going to get irritated with you.
For those who insist that I choose a book character to liken myself to - although I'm a lot like Neville, I think I also have a LOT in common with Ron Weasley. Remus Lupin, though, is the character whose general demeanor strikes me as being the most like mine.
