Adventure on the high seas - Boston, 13 October 2000
Most of these were taken by Natasha. She, Kael, and I made a raft out of all natural things - sticks tied together with reeds and strong grass, a sail out of leaves threaded onto two reeds, and so forth. And it worked! Until it got trapped in some branches that hung over the water, and then it sank. Oh well. We were still very proud of ourselves.
(Images are currently missing. Will fix as soon as I find them.)
The floors (the whole house has hardwoord floors, except the kitchen and the bathrooms) were completely refinished - they really needed it - and all the walls in the house were repainted except for four rooms - the dining room, my room, my mother's room, and the downstairs bathroom.
(Images are currently missing. Will fix as soon as I find or rescan them.)
The dining room, which wasn't painted and thus was used as storage. (The peach walls and flowered curtains, by the way, are completely my mother's doing. I hate them with a passion.)
The kitchen during the painting (again). Again, the blue is tape.
The living room, after they took down the wallpaper but before they started painting. The light fixtures are hanging by their wires, that's why they look sideways.
The living room, after they took down the wallpaper but before they started painting (again). Yes, that's a fireplace on the right.
The living room during the painting. (The light fixtures are back where they belong - you can see one on the far left.)
The living room during the painting (yet again). That's the huge shelf from the study; they had to put it somewhere.
The guest room, before the floors and painting. Note how scuffed the floor is.
The guest room, after the floors and before the painting. Note how shiny the floor is now.
The guest room, after the floors and before the painting (again).
The stairs during the painting. All the floors in the house were covered with that pink paper and tape. (See the vertical lines on the floor at the bottom of the stairs? Tape.)
The study, before the floors and painting. Again, note the floor. The study, after the floors and before the painting. You can't really see the floor here except for a tiny patch at the bottom, but it is shinier!
